ABOUT ME

I have always had a knack for photography ever since I was in middle school. I took the photography class in highschool because I thought it would be a fun way to get my arts credits. Here I am now almost 6 trimesters deep into photography courses. In my projects, I am constantly experimenting with new ways of capturing images such as using a disposable camera from CVS to my parents’ old point-and-shoot camera from the early 2000s. I feel like the less work the camera does for you, the more impressive of a photographer you actually are, which would explain why I gravitate towards my film camera most often. I choose photography because I have an eye for daring angles and unique ideas that others cannot see. My work stands out because of my attention to detail. My love for black and white photos came from my photography 1 class freshman year, where we worked exclusively with a 35 mm camera and developed all of our own film. I loved how I controlled every part of my photo from the exposure to the final print. I constantly lean towards black and white photos because they highlight the objects that are being portrayed without the distraction of color. As someone who loves to intensify their photos through contrast and shadows, black and white works much better for me than color photography. My work is provoking and my purpose is to capture the attention of an audience, see how long they can look at my pictures before moving onto the next. That is where I get my true gratification from photography, sparking interest in people who barely know me through my images.
